Oyinkansola Akinselure

AKINSELURE Oluwafunmilayo Oyinnkansola (nee Dada) – Nigeria (born – 5th March, 1964)

Ruth Oluwafunmilayo Oyinnkansola (nee Dada) who is an excellent Lyric soprano and a versatile conductress hails from Iludun Ekiti in Ekiti State, Nigeria.

Education: St Theresa’s Primary School Akure; St John/Mary Demonstration School, Owo; St Catherine Anglican Girls Grammar School, Owo; Federal Government College, Maiduguri till 1982.  One year Certificate Course in African Music, from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, 1984, Spent two years as  Associate Artiste with the Performing Arts Troupe of the Centre for Cultural Studies, University of Lagos where she took part in various drama, dance and acting sketches.  Took a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from the University of Lagos (1989) where she studied singing with Joy Nwosu Lo-Bamijoko and specialised in Voice and Music Education.  In 1992, she took a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with special emphasis on Music from the University of Lagos.  Also obtained a Diploma in singing from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London in 1993. in 2012, she obtained the Masters degree in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Lagos.

Musical Experience:

She has performed extensively both locally and internationally. She is a member of several musical organizations such as Commonwealth Music Association, Nigerian Chapter (CMA); The Nigerian Association of Music Educators (NAME); the Musicological Society of Nigeria (MSN) and the Musical Society of Nigeria (Muson). She was the choral director of St. Agnes Musical Society, Maryland for some years, and she taught music in Queens College, Yaba, Lagos for three years. Oyinkansola also plays the Piano, Violin, Cello and Atenteben (African Flute). She is currently the director of MTCM and Music Pastor in the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.
